IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Monday, 09 August 2010

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

At 11:30 AM today, the 9th of August 2010, a group of civic-spirited Filipino citizens namely the ADVOCATES FOR TRUTH IN LENDING, INC. (AFTIL, Inc.) filed a Petition for Certiorari with the Supreme Court of the Philippines, seeking for the declaration vis-a-vis the Central Bank of the Philippines’ 28-year old CB Circular No. 905, as VOID and UNCONSTITUTIONAL!

The Anti-Usury Law legislated in 1916 was effectively “suspended” indefinitely since 1982 by CB Circular No. 905 by means of its explicit provisions for removing and prohibiting any and all ceilings (maximum limits) to money lending interest rates in the Philippines, thus officially encouraging NAKED USURY. Thus commercial interest rates being FOISTED UPON consumer-borrowers in the Philippines since 1982, are at an average rate of 24% per annum and even go as high as 57% per annum in the largest chains of department stores affiliated with big banks.

The full text of this Petition for Certiorari is available for free downloading at www.catholicxybr.org  upon clicking at the end of this announcement.

All you heretofore silent advocates against NAKED USURY, let’s please all unite against UNCONSCIONABLE, UNCHRISTIAN and national ECONOMY-WRECKING moneylending practices!

In Re: God and The Pope Under Attack (Part 1)
Wednesday, 21 July 2010
According to columnist Rigoberto Tiglao (PDI issue of July 8, 2010), the rise of atheism and agnosticism is the triumph of science as “the only tool to obtain objective truth”. Such a sweeping statement admitting no exceptions, is most typical of those who do NOT understand “science” as it is now and always has been.
